WS "Lnghrn" CTP Beta3 (re)activation expired trouble!!!
Hi people, I installed Windows Server "Longhorn" CTP Beta3 (in VMware Virtual Machine for testing purposes)on August, 10th 2007. and activated it using my TechNet Plus trial key. After that, I promoted it to the first DC in forest and it worked fine for 7 months. Yesterday, my HOST computer crashed and thus VM hosting WS "Lnghrn". Now when I try to start VM i.e. WS "Lnghrn" I obtain dialog asking to activate the OS and that licence has expired. When I try to activate (either with a default key or a newly obtained trial key), I receive error message: Code: 0xC004E003 Description: The Software Licensing Service reported that license evaluation failed. Can you help me with this or direct me to the appropriate MS stuff. Really need to power on this OS again... Thanks!

Hello, I suspect your trial key has already expired. I recommend you confirm this first. For licensing questions, you can call 1-800-426-9400 (select option 4), Monday through Friday, 6:00 A.M. to 5:30 P.M. (PST) to speak directly to a Microsoft licensing specialist. Worldwide customers can use the Guide to Worldwide Microsoft Licensing Sites to find contact information in their locations. By the way, Please note that Microsoft does not test or support Microsoft software running together with non-Microsoft hardware virtualization software including VMware, unless the issue is confirmed to be unrelated to the non-Microsoft hardware virtualization software by reproducing it independently from the VMware For more details about the support policy, you may refer to the following KB article. No, I have another instance of WS "Lnghrn" on different host that works fine (also activated on August, 10th 2007.) and expiration date is the end of April this year. I suspect that after crash VMware regenerated a new VM emulated hardware environment (VM keys or whatever...) that does not match with previously activated WS "Lnghrn" installation. I will try to contact MS to see what can be done. Thanks for reply. Camexan
