WSUS
I have a wsus server running windows server 2003. We have winxp and vista systems checking in and downloading updates as expected. The win7 systems are getting patched but when I look in the wsus console all the windows 7 systems show the OS as winodws
vista enterprise systems. Has anyone seen this before and how can I correct the problem?

It seems you have WSUS 3.0 SP1 or earlier versions of WSUS. If that is the case upgrade your WSUS server to version 3.0 SP2. You should have WSUS 3.0 SP2 which supports Win 7 and 2008 R2 clients.

I don't think upgrading to the current version is the problem because all the server 2008 systems are showing up correctly. Any other ideas?

There are no workarounds or client side solutions. WSUS 3.0 Service Pack 2is required to support Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 systems. WSUS 3.0 RTW and WSUS 3.0 SP1 are
unsupported applications -- period -- regardless of what client systems you need to patch.
There is no rationalization for not installing a two-year-old FREE service pack :-)
