WS08 Extended partition not visible
Hi All,I have a Win 2008 exchange server (exch 2007) x64 on VmWare. The C Drive was running out of space (only had 20Gb) I added and extra 30Gb from the same data store. Extended the basic partion in disk management so it now shows a 50Gb disk. If I run diskpart from the cmd line --> list Disk it shows as 50 Gb. However when I browse the C drive in explorer it is still showing as only 20Gb!Exchange is crashing as we keep running out of space...Does anyone have any ideas on this? Thanks

Hi,
Have you tried to restart the virtual machine to check whether the issue disappear?

Your VHD is 50 GB, but it consists of a 20 GB partition and 30 GB unused space. You need to either create an additional partition or extend the existing partition.

Hi Vincent,Yes I have rebooted a few times and have also run a chkdsk. Same prob.Hi Brian,I have already extended the partion, disk management is showing the C drive as being 50Gb in size however when I open Windows Explorer the C drive is still only showing as 20Gb?

Hi,
Sorry for the late. How is your status?
Have you tried to mount this disk to another virtual machine to check whether you can see the free space correctly?
Best Regards,

Using Windows disk management select shrink on the c: drive, then extend it again in disk management, and explorer will show the correct disk size.
I used gparted to extend it originally, but explorer would not see the extra space even though disk management did.
