WIndows 2008 R2, Remote VPN
I've added a windows 2008 R2 into the domain and promoted as the first DC and DNS in a Win2k3 enviroment.
But now I notice that when I am home and remote into work - vpn via a Win2k3 DC that is running the Routing and Remote Access, I can't seem to connect to other servers?
Any clues as to why this is and how I can fix it? Thanks!

Hi,
Thank you for your post here.
You install the Windows Server 2008 R2 as the first DC and DNS server in the network while you have RRAS installed on a Windows Server 2003 DC?
First of all, please be aware of the security concern when you install DC and RRAS on the same server.
1. Can you access the resource on the VPN server?
2. Is there any filters applied on the external/internal interface which may block the traffic? You may verify the traffic with network monitor tools
that can capture inbound and outbound traffics.

Hi Miles,
Thanks for your reply... Well, I do know the potential security risk, but that is what the uppers want at this time.
Yes it is the first Windows Server 2008 R2 DC in our domain with currently 2 Windows Server 2003 (1 a PDC and the other BDC). At first I can only access the VPN server when I VPN into the network and that was it, no other servers. There are no filters that
is blocking it.
I did get it to work by clearing out all old WINS account, clearing DNS and netbios, then rebooting the DC server and then all was back to normal. Weird!
