Hello,I receive event ID 4224for WINS on three64-bit machines with server 2008 sp2. This errorwas raised afterinstalling WINS and I followed the article on http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/168595. In the details pane from the event the DWORD values'00002A04 FFFFFBFA' are displayed so I used the 2s complement method andthe decimal value was1030 (JetInit already called). The KB article contains alist(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/172570/EN-US/)with all error codes for Jet databases but there is no solution offered for any of these errors, i also searched on the internet but couldn't find any solution for this error. I also tried to empty the wins folder in c:\windows\system32 and restarted the WINS service but this didn't make any difference. The event says that WINS will try to recover from it but aftera reboot (or restarting the WINS service) the error comes up again. I don't have any problems with WINS or other services but i'm not sure why this event is raised. Couldthis be a bug in the WINS architecturebecause the error came up after a freshinstall on threedifferent machines? If the JetInit function is already calledwhy does the service try to call it again or is the function called by the ESENT and the WINS service?I would appreciate any suggestions, if the error is a bug or harmless I can disable WINS logging in the registry but it would be nice to fix this issue.

Hello,I'm having the same problem with 10 WINS servers. I'm also running on Server 2008 x64 SP2. And I'm getting the error right after I (re)start WINS. Even with an empty database. The problem I'm also experiencing is that replication is incomplete. Not all records are transferred to the replication partners. Replication is configured correctly en works, but some records are missing on the replicated databases. On one server I'm missing about 2% of the records, on another one about 4% and so on.Does anybody have a clou what's going on here?

The Event ID had the following Binary data: 0000: 00002A04 FFFFFBFA And this was the same for all servers. The information related to this kind of data is the following: # for hex 0xfffffbfa / decimal -1030 JET_errAlreadyInitialized esent98.h # /* Database engine already initialized */ JET_errAlreadyInitialized jet.h # /* JetInit already called */ JET_errAlreadyInitialized jet500.h # /* JetInit already called */ # 3 matches found for "FFFFFBFA" This event is generated because the database engine(ESE) is returning the error, JET_errAlreadyInitialized(0xFFFFFBFA), when WINS sets the parameter JET_paramWaitLogFlush of Jet database engine. This is happening only on Windows 2008 and not on other platforms including Windows 7. You can ignore the event since the parameter, JET_paramWaitLogFlush, has become obsolete from Windows 2008 onwards. This error comes up because of a behavioral change in Jet database engine when JetSetSystemParameter function is called with parameter as JET_paramWaitLogFlush. JetSetSystemParameter: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms684105(EXCHG.10).aspx JET_paramWaitLogFlush: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms684491(EXCHG.10).aspx
