WDS and DHCP on the same server

Hi,

I need to setup multicast on WDS. I have one windows server, HP Procurve 2512 Switch, and a few laptops where I need to install image via multicast. So, I've set up DHCP, DNS, WDS and AD DS all on the same server. Nothing is connected to the internet so there is no router avaliable.

Unicasting works fine when I connect a laptop directly to the server, but when I connect it via switch, and try to PXE boot it says "no dhcp or proxydhcp offers were received". So it wont get an IP address. The switch is properly configured, so all that remains is there's something wrong with configuration of something. Options 60, 66, 67 on the DHCP are properly configured.

I have been trying to get it to work for 2 days, testing everything google had to offer on the problem, unfortunately nothing worked for me. What do i need to do to get it to work?

Any suggestions are very much appreciated.  Also, excuse me if my english is not very good.

I give you my best regards.

P.S. I'm a noob when it comes to Windows Server.

Hi,

This issue may be caused by misconfiguration of the switch. Please make sure that client and WDS server are in the same subnet. Otherwise, additional configuration is needed for DHCP and multicast.

To verify if the DHCP server has receive the DHCP DISCOVER message sent by client, please try to perform a network capture on the WDS server by using network monitor.

To download network monitor, please refer to the link below:
