Hi there, I'm having an issue accessing the configuration snap-in for WDS.The errorI recieve when running --> %SystemRoot%\system32\WdsMgmt.msc is.....MMC Could not create the snap-in. The snap-in might not have been installed correctly.Name: Windows Deployment ServicesCLSID: {8D92C23E-7E5F-42B8-810F-0211F8A453C4}The error I recieve when attempting to open MMC and add the same snap-in is.....MMC cannot initialize the snap-in.Name: Windows Deployment ServicesCLSID: {8D92C23E-7E5F-42B8-810F-0211F8A453C4}Im running 2008 Standard with sp1.I have installed 2 additional features, .Net Framework 3.0 and Remote Server admin tools.I have also installed the .Net framework 3.5 SP1 update, and MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB954430).The only preexisting role for this server is File Services, running only LanmanServer service, with none of the additions,this is working fine.I have added WDS as a role via the servermanager tool, which appeared to complete fine.I can access the WDSarea from the Server Manager --> Roles menu without any problems.This shows the WDS service as stopped, which is as it should be.It also shows the Role Services - Deployment Server and Transport Server, both installed and available correctly.Other snap-ins function perfectly fine.Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thankyou.

Hi, I suggest removing and reinstalling the WDS role. After that, can you access Windows Deployment Services via Start -> Administrative Tools? If not, please let me know the exact wording of the error message. Tim Quan - MSFT

Thankyou very much for your reply Tim.I have since been able to configure and have this working.I uninstalled the role completely, and updated to SP2 with all available updates installed.After reinstalling the WDS role, the MMC snap-in for configuration works perfectly fine.Thankyou.
