Visual Studio doesn't see Azure SDK?

I'm trying to install the Azure SDK on my Windows 8 computer with VS2012. I click the Get Windows Azure SDK and follow the instructions

Visual Studio Dialog

After that is complete I restart Visual Studio. But I still get the same option to get the azure sdk. It's installed, in the control panel I can see the programs and the different programs.

Windows Azure tools

II don't know how to proceed. Why can't I see the new templates in Visual Studio? I've uninstalled the Azure tools and reinstalled them, I've uninstalled Visual Studio and reinstalled it, I've done the repair on Visual Studio. Yet it refuses to acknowledge the Azure SDK.

Any suggestions on how I can get Visual Studio to acknowledge the Azure SDK?

Hi,

It seems an issue related to Windows Azure, I am moving this one to Windows Azure forum for further support.

Hi,

You need to install some iis feature from windows first. Please follow the steps in this download page (Instructions for windows 8):

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35448

After finished above, then install the sdk. You can choose the manually installing from above link or get it from here:

Thanks,

Alright I've done that. Now how do I get Visual Studio to see the the project templates? The SDK is installed. The SDK is working. Visual Studio doesn't see the project templates and all I get there is the option to install the SDK.

Hi,

I experienced the same issue. I fixed the issue by using web platform installer http://www.microsoft.com/web/downloads/platform.aspx

And install azure package from it. that will fix your problem

Hi,

In order to use Azure SDK in VS, typically you need to have the following five things installed:

  • Windows Azure Authoring Tools
  • Windows Azure Emulator
  • Windows Azure Libraries for .NET
  • Windows Azure Tools for LIGHTSWITCH for Visual Studio 2012
  • Windows Azure Tools for Microsoft Visual Studio 2012

From your screenshot, I see everything except "Windows Azure Tools for Microsoft Visual Studio - October 2012". Theoretically, if you have this one installed, VS should be able to pick it up. If you still want to install SDK 1.8, you can go to http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35448 and install WindowsAzureTools.VS110.exe manually. Or you can choose to use the latest version 2.0, which was release this morning at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=38797 along with all the other latest components.

In general, installing Azure SDK for .NET using Web Platform Installer is recommended.

Thanks,

Xin

Ok. So after reinstalling Visual Studio again and then repairing Visual Studio. I installed Azure SDK 2 and now it seems to work.

Thank you for your help.

Hi, I am experiencing this exact issue with VS2013 Update 4 and Azure SDK 2.6.

I installed everything from the web platform installer:

Also, there is the proper registry key:

However VS can not recognize the Azure project templates, and all I get under installed project templates is "Get Microsoft Azure SDK for .NET".

Please any help is appreciated!
