Virtual Server creation with domain controller.

I was wondering if any one could assist me. I come from a programming background and not familiar with Hyper V etc.

This is what I have so far, I have two virtual machines installed. I would like one server to be Active Directory and a domain controller and the other server to be able to join the domain. This is purely for testing and not a production environment.

Any articles or pointers would be much appreciated.

Thanks

After that you will be able to add your second server to AD domain.

The steps of build and deploy the first domain controller are simple, you just log on to the server with the local Administrator account. Open a command prompt and run DCPROMO. Then follow the on-screen instructions to create a domain in a new forest.

Not sure which edition of Windows server you are using. If you are using Windows server 2012, please note that the Dcpromo command can't be used anymore, it has been deprecated. You will need to install ADDS (Active Directory Domain Services) Role from the server manager on Windows Server 2012 and then promote the server to a domain controller. For more details, you can refer to the link shared by Slava above.
