hi guys,

was running the VL for 2008 cluster failover - first part of the server install checks lots of settings - should all be green normally, but various elements failed! :/  things like cluster service etc

didn't seem any way to correct this - I ran it a few times with same result

this was using web version of VL

any ideas on how to get around it?

From your description, you fail to install SQL Server 2008 failover cluster instance, right? If that is the case, please help to post the summary and detail logs for analysis. By default, the logs can be found in: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\Log.

yes that is correct - it showed errors in the initial check page it goes through near start of install

I will attempt it again and get the logs

erm...how do I get the logs copied? :/

I cant copy/paste them directly to hear it seems - and not sure how to save them to my local pc

btw: the summary log doesn't appear to have been modified since 2010 :/

I tried accessing onedrive from IE on the node, but no access allowed from there it seems :/

But, another related question if I may :)

I noticed that in start menu there is Failover Cluster Manager app listed - but in the instructions for the lab, it says run the normal Sql Server install and select Failover cluster etc .... so im confused :/ is the Failover Cluster Manage app only used once a new cluster has been setup?
