Verifying Time Services
So, I thought I had this problem licked. I posted last week asking how to get my workstations to get time from the server and how to get the server to get updates from a NIST server. When it was all said and done, the server time was right and so were the workstations. It would seem that I am again losing time. The server is now 10 minutes behind. Luckily (or unluckily) the workstations are still getting their time from the server, so they are all 10 minutes off as well. How do I verify my server time settings are correct and that it is actually pulling time from the internet? Thank you

is the server a virtual machine? Net time /querysntp or W32tm /query /source (depending on your OS ver) will tell you where the server is getting it's time http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc773263(WS.10).aspx

Deselect Time synchronization between the virtual machine and the host operating system in the VMware Tools toolbox GUI of the guest operating system. Its not a VMWare VM. It is Hyper-V. Does the same feature exist in Hyper-V?

Thanks for the assistance. Doing more research based on what you said revealed this article: http://mikefrobbins.com/2010/05/17/active-directory-and-server-time-synchronization-problems-with-hyper-v/ Which is fully detailed and explains the problem and solution completely. Thanks again
