VSS Writers why they fail? Once about every two to three weeks my Symantec (12.5) backup will fail on my Exchange server (2003 sp2)..when I run vssadmin list writers, I see that one or two writers have failed..they report no errors but show they failed. I will restart the server and all is fine..just wondering where to look as to the cause of these writer failures..everytime I google it I just get restart the server..I just would like to know what is causing the failures..logs report nothing except the failed backup..Any advice would be great..thanks.

Hi, Base on my experience, the issue may caused by Symantec backup. Please check whether you get the same issue with Windows Server Backup, then we can isolate the influence of Symantec. By the way, I recommend that you contact Symantec for more information. Best Regards, Vincent Hu
