VPN L2TP Erro 789

Hello, configured RRAS to NPS in Windows Server 2012. In the LAN can connect to the VPN for PPTP and L2TP from the external network can connect only PPTP, L2TP will have neither the stick, since I reviewed the settings, read several articles of the internet, including this https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/926179 but to no avail anything.

The error is always the same, 789.

This server is virtualized on a host with VMware ESXi 5.5.

Error 789 is a generic error which is thrown when the IPSec negotiation fails for L2TP/IPSec connections.

We could check the events of NPAS. They may help to analyze the problem.

Hello, there's something I forgot to mention.

The. The connection for the internal network works perfectly, I can close the L2TP tunnel between my Windows 7 station and the Windows Server 2012 server with RRAS, then was trading problem, should not give problem too? I'm using PSK key and sure to be putting the right key.

B. The server is behind a Linux firewall fois, who is on the edge and another that is on the internal network.

Any other suggestions ?

Hi Ivanildo,

When the connection failed, we could check the events of NPAS. They may tell us the accurate reasons of the failure.

The firewall should be configured to allow the traffic.
