VPN
Hello Everybody I have Server running windows server 2003 STD and I need to make it VPN server. I did that. But the problem is the VPN connection can establish from network computers, but from outside I can't .And shows message with error code 800. Should I open ports on my router like the remote desktop??If yes which ports?? There are any things I have to do??? Please help me Thanks a lot guys

It depends on your network. You need to configure your firewall to allow VPN traffic. Thank you thats helps me a lot, but I am too stupied . Can you tell me what I have to do so I can connect from outside the Lan let us consider we have ext. IP 66.77.88.10 and the server IP is 192.168.1.2 how I can connect??? there are any configuration should I do in the router? any thing I have to point the external IP to the server IP?? please I need simple and step by step help Thank you

That is not really a Microsoft question. You cannot connect to a server with a private IP from the Internet. You must connect to a device which has a registered public IP, such as your router. You will have to forward traffic from the router to the VPN server's IP address. How you do that depends on what sort of VPN connection you are making and what sort of router you have. Bill

You need to enable NAT on the firewall. As Bill mentioned, it has nothing to do with Windows Server. So my recommendation is to contact your networking hardware vendor. If I was at your place I would have removed the firewall and would have checked the connectivity fom the outside by making a VPN client. This will show where to trouble shoot on the sever or on router if ports issue are there or Try top open ANY TO ANY trffice from the rouer to the VPN server and try ithttp://www.virmansec.com/blogs/skhairuddin

Thank you guys for your answers. In fact I have a shared folder and I need my employees to connect and work on this folder from anywhere. what is the best and easiest way to do that. Thanx

Create a shared folder and assign permission using their AD account. Then you can map the drive to users computer.
