VMware virtual machines Running in Virtual PC
Can anybody tell me if Virtual PC 2007 will run VMs created for VMware? I know VMware says it supports Microsoft VMC files, but I need the opposite configuration. We use Virtual PC 2007 for training, but one of our vendors, Cognos, only supplies VMware images.

Hi,VMWare images are not compatible with MS Virtualization products. What you should be looking for is a converter that will convert .vmdk (vmware virtual hard disks) to .vhd (microsoft virtual hard disks). I found one @ vmtoolkithttp://vmtoolkit.com/blogs/announcements/archive/2006/11/20/vmdk-to-vhd-converter-available.aspx. Once converted you can create a Virtual Machine with the cognos supplied virtual hard disks. Alternatively you could choose to install the free vmware product and run those vmdks off of VMWare.-matt-matt
