VMM - Cannot see storage

Hello experts,

I have an issue with presenting storage to my new hyper-v hosts.  When I try and Add storage from the properties of the host it is greyed out.  (Storage Tab).  When I try and add it for the cluster it also fails with a spurious error.  We don't have SMI-S for the storage so cannot add it as a provider.  Is there any other way of adding or presenting the storage without using SMI-S?

From the VMM server I can UNC to the storage and open the share no problem.  It just seems to be VMM which cannot see it.

Thanks.

Hello,

To add storage from the SCVMM console, you need to use a SMI-S connector and it's not your case. Check with StarWind if you would like to do this without a SAN.

Hi Sir,

I assume that you are using vmm 2012 SP1 .

You can use server 2012 and 2012R2 as a ISCSI target to provide SMI-S storage .

As for 2012 server , you need to install SMI-S Provider , you can get  this provider  from within  your SCVMM 2012 SP1 installation disc amd64\Setup\msi\iSCSITargetProv\iSCSITargetSMISProvider.msi
