Using microphone on Server 2008
Does anyone have any ideas why the mic on my new Creative headset is not working? The speakers work great just the mic is messed up. I have tried both the built in mic jack and the one on my Creative Sound Card. Neither one will work. The best I can get is some fuzzy noise on the Creative Sound Card.

Hello,
I suspect that the error is caused by incompatiblesound card driver or the hardware problem with the microphone. Please check whether the microphone works well on other machines. Please also check whether you have installed the proper sound card driver for Windows Server 2008.
If you don't have one for Windows Server 2008, I recommend you contact to the sound card manufacturer directly for further assistance.

I have had similar troubles with a microphone and Server 2008 x64 (4 gigs ram).Using realtek on board sound, the mic sound is very, very low.Turning on mic boost increases the volume a little bit (not enough) and a hum and distortion make it almost unrecognizable as a human voice. It also sounds like the sound is being clipped as if the line is overloaded.Adding a X-fi platinum, the mic is a little better. The volume is still way to low for anything practical and the quality is terrible but it is more recognizable as a human voice. But there is a continuous buzz/hum with the mic boost turned on.
