Users can't make private folder offline
HiI have created a share on our file server \\Servername\Users containing each users private folder. I have changed therights on the \\Servername\Users folder so that the Administrators group have fullaccess and then I have added each user to their ownprivate folder with full access. In our login script I map the users private folder to "P:".When I try to make the drive available offline it fails with access denied, and I can't figure out why?/LasseLasse

Hi LasseF,Thank you for posting in windows forums, the error which you are seeing is because of permission issue, i understand you have provided the complete rights, but i would prefer you to walkthrough the entire setup once again . Please do provide us the event log info for further troubleshooting.sainath !analyze

Hi SainathI know that the problem is regarding permissions but can't figure out why.I have the following configuration on the server:D:\Users (Containing each users private folder)- Permissions are set to Administrators with Full ControlD:\Users\%Username%- Permissions are inherited from D:\Users so Administrators have Full Control and then the user is added with Full ControlD:\Users is shared and Everyone is set to Full ControlWhen the user logs in \\Server\Users\%username% is mapped to P: and when I select the drive an want to make it available offline it fails with access deny.I have been through the permissions and in my opinion everything is looking fine. I have just tried adding Domain Users to the Share permissions with Full Control but that didn't change anything. Is it necessary toadd Domain Users to D:\Users with some special rights?Lasse

I found the solution! I added "Domain Users" on the folder D:\Users with special permission "Traverse folder/execute file" and "List folder / read data", not it works./Lasse

This error has happened due to the way you have shared and mapped the folders. For example:If you mapped the users folder to \\server\users\%username% then the user requires permissions to the parent folder 'Users' to use the offline folder feature. If you mapped the users folder to \\server\%Username% this would allow the users to work offline without requiring any additional securitty rights on the Users folder.
