Hi, Roaming profile is a profile that can be accessed by other computers, user can save changes which they did to the environment, while mandatory profile is only controlled by administrators, users can only make transitory changes to their environment, it won't be saved. I suggest you use Roaming profile. You can set some folder redirection for local drive to some shared folder and set read-only permissions for users on this folder. Some useful reference links: Managing User Profiles http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb726990.aspx How to prevent non admin users from saving documents to local Hard Drive, only to Windows 2000 Server http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/itproxpsp/thread/00967594-3fdc-411e-bc45-cfaa76370529/ Regards, Cicely

Hi, >>Above links are related to Windows server 2000. but we have server 2008 It also applies to Windows Server 2008. >>in both profiles in which profile login is faster. In theroy mandatory profile is faster, because it doesn't need synchronize data between servers. Regards, Cicely

Hi Arvind, At first i want to tell you there are littile bit changes in profiles from win 2000, 2003 or 2008 r2. You can go through http://www.grouppolicy.biz/2010/08/best-practice-roaming-profiles-and-folder-redirection-a-k-a-user-virtualization/ For Roaming profile configuration. And Roaming profile is slower, it will take time to load and saving of profile During login and logging off duration.. Because, it will save all profile data on file server which you have updated either on user desktop or user's documents.

Mandatory profiles load faster. Please refer following discussion.
