User Not Able to Access Home Folder on Server 2003
I have set up a new user in 2003 AD. I use the same template as I do all other users. All users are able to access their home drive on the server except for one user who is on a Windows 7 PC. The drive (H:) maps appropriately but when the user clicks on it it returns error stating H:\refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer.... If it still cannot be located, the information might have been moved to a different location. I have a few other users on Windows 7 PC's that do not have this issue. All settings and scripts are identical. Any help on resolving this is appreciated.

check user permissions on shared folder property. check the firewall settings and disable AV temporary. clear the credentials in win7 from credential manager. access the share folder from run by enter \\ip\shared folder name. disconnect the mapped network drive and configure again.

same happen with me, i checked following 1- check for win 7 PC dns entry (forward lookup zone and reverse lookup zone) in server [DC] or not (in run command dnsmgmt.msc -->enter) 2- check the user permission on the shared folder. 3- in run \\ip not work try \\netbois name of server, & mapped the drive for more information http://www.techrepublic.com/forum/questions/101-233418/windows-2003-r2-server-clients-cannot-access-shared-foldersMohammed Imtiyaz Ali

user permissions are correct there were no credentials to be cleared I was able to access the share using \\ip\shared folder name. This being the case what is causing me not to be able to access it from the mapped drive in explorer? i have done some more poking around. i can access any other share on this pc, just not the \\...\home share. if i use the ip address \\ip address\home or the full domain name \\cat.hat.com\home, i am able to access it. its only this one machine that does not work.

One thing can be done at this point remove the home folder from that particular user and reconfigure it manually without the template and give a try and also see this links http://blogs.technet.com/b/grouppolicy/archive/2009/02/11/gp-preferences-will-reduce-logon-scripts-mapping-drives.aspx How to assign a home folder to a user http://support.microsoft.com/kb/816313 .http://www.virmansec.com/blogs/skhairuddin
