User Name Access Denied Task Manager Server 2008 R2
The list of users attached to each process returns with <access denied> when using process explorer in server 2008, but when using task manager, after selecting "show processes from all users", each process is shown with the user that it was initiated by. I'm not sure what is going wrong with the permissions; there is one user who can access the process user names via process explorer. All other admins can access process explorer, see all processes, can see who is doing remote desktop as well as log them off, but can't see the user name attached to each process. A fix I found was to run the procexp.exe from a command prompt with elevated privledges. The admins who were previously blocked from viewing the users attached to each process can then view everything. Is there a way to run the process explorer with elevated privilidges via right clicking the bottom menu bar and hitting "start task manager"? Or is there an easier way to give the admins the necessary privledges to be able to view the usernames attached to each process? Thanks in advance

Hello, what you see belongs to UAC, there are GPOs to configure it for your needs. Even enterprise/domain/administrators security group belong to UAC. The Administrator account is the only one with lower restrictions and also requires RUNAS for some operations.Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.
