User Cannot open the report

Hi Gurus,

I created a report using report builder and uploaded into the report manager. I gave the following roles to the user (Browseer, My Reports and Report Builder). The user can access the URL and the folder , but when he clicks on the report, he is getting the following error

"There are no items in the folder, click here for more information"

But the report exists in that folder

Thanks

Hi thinkingeye,

Follow those steps

  1. Login to your report manager with administrator permision http://{ServerName}/Reports
  2. Click on the arrow next to the "Home" folder and than click on security enter image description here

  3. Click on "New Role Assignment"

  4. In the "Group or User name" write a user name and check the permissions you want to set for him

Note: you should write a user that exist in your organization

For example write everyone (to give everyone access to the report server) with permission of "Browser"

Hi thinkingeye,

According to your description, you have uploaded the report to report server, and grant the user required item-level role, but the error There are no items in the folder, click here for more information is thrown is thrown out when the user access the report, right?

Based on the error message, we can find that the issue cant be caused by the insufficient permission for the user. It seems that the report hasnt be uploaded to report server completely. In your scenario, please access the report from the report manager with the URL which has tried by the user, to see if you are able to run the report. Also please check if you can access the report from report server root folder.

Besides, please upload the RDL file to report manager again, or deploy the report to report server from report builder. Please refer to this article: Report Builder Deploying Reports. Please make sure you are able to run the report, then grant the user Brower item-level role in Security tab for the report again.

If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

Best regards,
Qiuyun Yu

Does the report use any subreports or have images that link to a location they don't have permissions to?  What happens if you grant them access to a different report in the same directory (maybe a simple one you upload for testing)?
