Use SharePoint BCS to access/modify Service Manager DB

I am looking to see if anyone has used SharePoint BCS, to connect to the Service manager database.  My thought is to create a way to submit change requests via the SM portal.  Since the OTB webparts do not support this, I am looking into using the SharePoint BCS to create an external content type....

Is it worth trying?  Is there a road block I am not aware of?

Any input is apprec

It's always worth trying :) But don't connect to the database. Design your external content type to use the SCSM SDK.

Direct access to DB is absolutely unsupported. And really dangerous. You must use the SDK as Aaron suggest.

Any idea on how I would do that, do I need a developer?  (just rough idea is fine, nothing too time consuming for you)
