Upgrading 2008 r2 evaluation version
Hello all,
I downloaded the 2008 r2 evaulation version thinking that I would be saving myself a bit of time and ordered the license from a reseller. I have now discovered that the 2008 r2 standard license that I bought doesn't work with this and from what I have
read I am going to have to get a full version.
Can anyone advise me on the easiest way to do this? Am I best to wipe the server and start again with a full version? And is it possible to download the full version that will accept my key? I can only find this link:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/en/us/try-it.aspx which is not going to work.
Thanks in advance.

The Try-It version is a "Trial" edition. So all of the contents of that ISO are trial edition licensed.
You will need to use the media purchased from the vendor or find a retail copy of the DVD to perform the installation. FYI, it might not be a bad idea to keep a copy of that if you run into additional clients in the future whom do this.
If they purchased Volume License, you would just go to
https://www.microsoft.com/licensing/servicecenter/Home.aspx to download it. This however, is not the case.
The Media Kit should not cost very much... Call back the reseller and ask for a media kit for Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard Retail/Reseller copy.

Hi,
You will be able to find the following description in the following link.
“After this time, you will need to uninstall the evaluation software and reinstall a fully-licensed version of Windows Server 2008 R2.”
