Upgrade from Server 2008 Standard to Server Enterprise 2008 without Hyper-V
I currently have Server 2008 Standard Ed SP1 (without R2) 32 bit. I tried to upgrade to 2008 Enterprise 32bit using a retail copy I purchased of Server 2008 Enterprise without Hyper-V. The upgrade option was greyed out with the explanation that the upgrade from Server 2008 Standard to Enterprise 2008 without Hyper-V was not allowed but the 2008 Standard to 2008 Enterprise was allowed. The Hyper-V role was never installed on the server and is not even an option in the list of roles. Is there a workaround for this?

Hi, Cross language and cross architectural in-place upgrades are not supported. You must go for Source-Destination server upgrade. Hi, Please check the following points: 1. Does the Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition include Hyper-V components? 2. Does the Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Edition Installation disk integrate Service Pack 1 (SP1)? According to the Windows Server 2008 upgrade path, only Windows Server 2008 Standard without Hyper-V and Windows Server 2008 Enterprise without Hyper-V can upgrade to Windows Server 2008 Enterprise without Hyper-V. In addition, if the Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Edition Installation disk does not integrate with SP1, please uninstall SP1 from Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition and try to upgrade again.
