Upgrade from 2003 to 2008 result in bluescreen during boot
Hi, I recently installed windows 2008 on a server machine that has been running 2003 for the past few years (No hardware change). That resulted in a BSOD 0x000000024 (0x0000000000000003, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000, 0x0000000000000000). I traced it down to the 3ware 9650SE raid controller, and this is where it starts to get weird: I can boot windows 2008 in safe mode, the 3ware driver loads just fine, and I can access the array from it. If I reboot to normal mode, it BSOD during boot. However, if I disable the 3ware card in device manager in safe mode, I can boot fine. And finally, when I enable the raid card AFTER BOOT, it works just fine! However, once I reboot again, BSOD when windows is loading. I have tried upgrading chipset drivers, 3ware drivers, with same result. Is there any hotfix for this? Or other ways to resolve it? If there is a way to script disabling the 3ware card during shutdown, and enable it during startup again, that should function as a workaround. My system: Windows 2008 Enterprise SP2 Intel S5000PSL with Dual Xeon AMCC 3ware 9650SE

It sounds like a driver issue. Make sure you have a driver for Windows 2008. Did you try to upgrade the driver? Is the disk controller integrated into the system board? If so you might want to take it up here. http://communities.intel.com/community/openportit/server?view=discussions Regards, Dave Patrick .... Microsoft Certified Professional Microsoft MVP [Windows]
