I am not able to run the Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 installation DVD from Windows Server 2008. Getting the following error.

You can't upgrade a 32bit OS to a 64bit OS. Windows 2008 R2 is 64bit only. The error you're receiving suggests you have a 32bit Windows 2008 server installed.
For future reference, this forum is for Virtual Server 2005, regular Windows Server questions should go in the standard Windows Server forum.
