Upgrade 2003 Active Directory to 2008
We have 6 domain controllers in 6 different physical locations. They are all 2003 AD. I would like to add a new 2008 DC to one location. I will not be able to upgrade all the other sites to 2008 for some time, so I would have to run 2003 DCs mixed 1 with 2008 DC. Anyone see a problem with this? Thanks, Craig

I dont see any reason to worry. The installation of Windows 2008 into the domain and migration is quite simple. First you need to Adprep your 2003 Domain by runningadprep /forestprepadprep /domainprep adprep /gpprepfrom the 2008 DVD on the Windows 2003 DC - adprep is in the SOURCES folder on the DVD.see this for more detailshttp://www.experts-exchange.com/OS/Microsoft_Operating_Systems/Server/2003_Server/Q_23872228.html Upgrading Active Directory Domains to Windows Server 2008 AD DS Domains http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc731188(WS.10).aspx Functional Level http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc771132(WS.10).aspxRaj

Hello Craig,There should not be any problem with this. Just remember to upgrade your schema and domain by running adprep /forestprep and adprep /domainprep on your schema master and you should be good to goIsaac Oben MCITP:EA, MCSE
