Uninstall Powershell from Windows 2003 SP2
I have a Windows 2003 SP2 server, which has had the patch install folders on c:\windows removed due to disk space reasons. Neither KB926139, kb926140, or kb926141 shows as a windows update under add/remove programs, but powershell 1.0 is installed
(powershell.exe version 6.0.6002.18111). As such, I am unable to upgrade to Windows 2008x32 (I copied the install to new hardware with more disk space.)
I attempted to remove SP2, but the servicepackfiles had been moved from c:\blah\blah to d:\blah\blah (hopefully with corrospongind reg changes), and it just removed SP2 from the installed updates list. The following suggest a workround, but I also do not
have the kb file on the system (removed for disk space, per above.)

If there is not enough space to keep the patch folder is there enough room to even achieve the upgrade?
Upgrades are generally not the best thing, could you not look at alternative options?If a post is helpful, please take a second to hit the

There is now sufficient space to do an upgrade.
There was not sufficient space on the origional hardware: a restore was done to newer hardware & that version both works & has sufficient resources to accomidate both the upgrade, and the expected expansion expected from new patches/servicepacks;
applications.

You can clone the HD and install a larger system disk up to 2 TB for Server 2003 easy enough.
Seagate and WDC both have tools to clone any disk to their products. I use Seagate in my shop.

The origional question states that the server has been cloned to hardware with sufficient space. The question is how to remove Powershell 1.0 when the hotfix folders have been removed from the system & the add/remove programs does not list any
of the relivant hotfixes (or windows powershell) as installed.

If there is not add/remove in the control panel, then there is some problem in the registry that has removed the keys needed
Removing updates is also a nuisance as sometimes dependencies are not managed

I have unadvisidly used a hammer to "resolve" the problem:
I removed every instance of PowerShell I could find in the registry, rebooted, and then was able to upgrade to 2008. (I highly recommend doing this on a second copy of the server you are working on. It is not a recommended procedure. At a minimum,
backup the system state & Registry before doing this.)
