Unable to expand schemas

When I run

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft BizTalk Server 2013 R2\XSD_Schema\EDI\MicrosoftEdiXSDTemplates.exe

It asks for the path where to put the files. I accept the default of

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft BizTalk Server 2013 R2\XSD_Schema\EDI\

It appears to run successfully but I don't see any files so I try to run it again. This time it says that the files already exist!

???

My workaround was to expand elsewhere and then copy it to the target location. It said I needed Administrator privileges so I gave them and it worked.

Hi Bill,

The steps to install EDI schema files are as below:

  1. In Windows Explorer, move to drive:\Program Files\Microsoft BizTalk Server 20xx\XSD_Schema\EDI.

  2. Double-click MicrosoftEdiXSDTemplates.exe.

  3. Select the folder to save the schemas in. The default folder is drive:\Program Files\Microsoft BizTalk Server 20xx\XSD_Schema\EDI.

  4. Click Unzip.

Refer: How to Install EDI Schema Files

Looks like because of administration privileges you were not able to access the files in the default location. You can check your privileges.

Good to hear that you have found the workaround.

Even easier!

Change the extension from .exe to .zip and you will be able to browse it with Windows Explorer directly.

Then, just copy/drag out the schemas you need.
