Unable to add Timeline in PowerPivot

Hi All,

I have deployed one Data Model to SharePoint 2013 & I am generating some reports out of it. Using PowerPivot Linked Data as a connection. I have Date fields inside Model.

So when I am trying to insert timeline in new report I am getting an error as " We can't create a Timeline for this report because it doesn't have field formatted as Date".

when I add Timeline in Data Model's excel file sheet it is allowing me to insert Timeline, but not allowing in newly created reports using that shared Data Model.

Thanks in advance!

By using the  following way I am generating reports from shared Data Model which is deployed on SharePoint-2013 using Power Pivot Gallery.

Hello,

Have you defined the column as data type = "Date"?

Hi Olaf,

Yes it is done! That's why I am able to insert Timeline in shared Data Model's Excel file/sheet.

But when I am creating reports using that shared model (as Power-Pivot Linked Data) in that report I am unable to insert Timeline.

As I told earlier how I am generating new reports using shared Data Model ( in earlier Post/image).

or may we can't insert Timeline in Power-Pivot Linked Data's sheet??

Shared Model Excel                      (Can Insert Timeline)

New Report(using above)           (Can't Insert Timeline)

FYI. In these newly created reports the Model is empty as it is linked to shared model. so there is no way to set type of column to 'Date'.

Hi Olaf,

Did you get my question or not?

I have done some investigation on it & came across some conclusion.

Let me tell you, I think it's not possible to add Timeline in PP Linked Data sheet.

This is because when we use PP Linked Data as a data source, our current sheet's model left empty & while using Pivot field list it consider all fields as General data-type only.

So we don't have any option to set data-type of field & that's why its NOT Possible.

I don't have Sharepoint 2013, so I can't test it to give you further assistance.

Okay.

I am sure you will help me on this.

Is there any limit on number of report connections that slicers can have?
