Unable install english language pack
Hi, I have a german language W2k8 x86 Enterprise Edition.1. I downloaded the english language pack:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=e9f6f200-cfaf-4516-8e96-e4d4750397ff&displaylang=en2. Copied it to my W2k8 Server under C:\en-us\lp.cab3. Under Regional Settings - Tab Keyboards and Languages I've clicked on install additional languages4. In the next dialog I browsed toC:\en-us , clicked select folder, no language pack visibleI got the tip-text that the language pack was not found in the mentioned folder despite having lp.cab in there.Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks! Someone in the company surely does have a MSDN subscription howeveruntil I found out who I would need a solution. So my question is how to proceed in the meantime?

Trythe following command elevated:lpksetup /i * /p C:\en-usIf that doesn't work, move the en-us language pack folder into it's own folder on the drive, i.e., C:\langpacks\en-us and modify the command as follows:lpksetup /i en-us /p C:\langpacks

Hello Greg,Did you copy down the x86 version of the Language Packs? There are three platforms available for download and if you downloaded the incorrect platform, you may run into this issue. Thanks, Darrell Gorter[MSFT] This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights

Thanks guys for the suggestions!@Darrell: I am using the right version. My CPU is an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core and I downloaded the following image 6001.18000.080118-1840_amd64fre_Server_LP_1-KRMSLPX1_DVD.img@Ryan: I've tried the first command with no success. I've executed it in the DOS box. After hitting enter the "sand clock" appeared for a few seconds next to the mouse pointer and then nothing happened.Following entry is in the event log(english translations are in paranthesis):Protokollname: SystemQuelle: Microsoft-Windows-LanguagePackSetupDatum: 08.03.2009 11:41:15Ereignis-ID: 1001Aufgabenkategorie:Assistenten-Funktionalitt fr das Sprachpaket-Setup. If you're using Windows Server 2008 (x86) even on a 64-bit CPU, then you need:6001.18000.080118-1840_x86fre_Server_LP_1-KRMSLP1_DVD.imgHere's the full URL to download it:http://download.microsoft.com/download/a/6/b/a6b3c577-4656-438c-b3d4-9990ad8fbf88/6001.18000.080118-1840_x86fre_Server_LP_1-KRMSLP1_DVD.img

Hi Ryan, thanks for providing the solution. The mentioned image6001.18000.080118-1840_x86fre_Server_LP_1-KRMSLP1_DVD.img copying en-us to C:\ then executinglpksetup /i * /p C:\en-us worked fine. I still does not understand why the other img contains the word"amd64" . If it confused me it surely can confuse others.
