Turn off firewall service???
The firewall on Windows 2008 has annoyed me so much, and I turned it off. Whenever I install something that requiresa reboot, such as a driver, the firewall turns it back on. It's a production server, and we definately dont' want that to happen. I'm wondering if you can just DISABLE the firewall service. Thanks

Yes, you can disable the firewall service. This will prevent the firewall service from starting after a reboot. However, Microsoft does not support stopping the firewall service. Alternatively you can leave the firewall service running and set the operations mode to disabled. Your server will remember this setting through reboots.Use a Group Policy to enable theProhibit use of Internet Connection Firewall on your DNS domain network setting inin Computer Configuration under Policies (if present), in Administrative Templates\Network\Network Connections(useful when managing a large amount of servers) or issue the following command (for one single server): netsh firewall set opmode disable
