Tuning SCVMM 2012 for VDI setup??

We have SCVMM 2012 sp1 and SCVMM 2012 R2 as the management suite for Hyper-V integrated for Citrix XenDesktop.

There are 1000's of jobs that kick in within SCVMM as its a VDI environment and its heavily impacting SCVMM performance.

I am looking to fine tune the settings so that we can bring down the load which can help on getting performance on SCVMM.

I have gone through this blog post

http://blogs.technet.com/b/vishwa/archive/2011/02/01/tuning-scvmm-for-vdi-deployments.aspx

Is this blog post still relevant to SCVMM 2012 and 2012 R2?

Any other posts for scvmm 2012 and 2012 R2 out there?

That blog post is not as relevant as it once was.  It is still relevant, and most points are still valid.

SCVMM has made some changes (highly contributed to by XenDesktop) to aide in scaling and performance.  Which is why I say the blog is not as relevant as it once was.

Beyond the blog post, be sure that you have given SCVMM and the SQL server adequate resources.

The other thing to look at in regards to your jobs is contention on the hypervisors.

I frequently find that this is actually the root to high load and slow job processing speeds.

Agree. But do we have anything from citrix they want to change values on scvmm.

The refresh counters to scan host and vm, The garbage collection values are still relevant for latest version of scvmm too in VDI as scvmm would be scanning 1000's of VM's.

I want to look beyond these customization but i am unable to find some real time tests done with customizations for scvmm 2012 or 2012 r2 for vdi.

The env. is too big with 8000VDI machines and 250+ hyper-v hosts. so above value customizations will add very good performance  boost but want to look beyond those customization.

You would have to ask the Citrix folks what their recommendations are.

I can tell you that the recommendations in the blog were worked out in collaboration between Citrix and MSFT.  (I was personally involved in the start of that).

Looking beyond the tweaks I would point you to whitepapers by our partner organization.  As they do all of the Citrix testing at scale.
