Troublesome Dilemma...
I have a Windows 2003 Server that was originally installed back in April 2005. Two weeks ago, the server somehow suddenly "thinks" it's an expired 180-day trial. I simply don't understand how this is at all possible. I have seven servers, all installed with their own retail (not OEM) copy of Windows 2003 Server Standard, all installed on the same day, but for whatever reason, something has happened to this server that I just can't explain. The error is the typical message... ------------------------------ Windows Product Activation ------------------------------ The evaluation period for this copy of Windows has ended. Windows cannot start. To continue using Windows, please purchase and install a retail copy of the product. [OK] ------------------------------ Now, of course I have the ability to reinstall the OS on the troublesome server, but I'm faced with quite a major dilemma. On this server, I have several SQL databases that an application from another server needs to access in order to function properly. If I boot from the Windows Server CD and choose the "upgrade" option, will the SQL installation and existing databases be preserved? Please advise. Thank you.
