I would like to share a KB article which provides the troubleshooting steps that you can follow when you cannot connect to Microsoft Azure SQL Database. This article also includes the best practices to prevent request denials or connection terminations when you connect to Azure SQL Database.
Symptoms
- Cannot open server connection due to firewall settings
- The server was not found or was not accessible
- Unable to login to the server
- Connection timeout errors
- Transient errors
- Connection Terminated due to hitting some system-defined limit
- Connections failing from SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
You receive error messages when the connection to Azure SQL Database fails. The connection problems can be caused by the firewall settings, connection time-out, or incorrect login information. Additionally, if the maximum limit on some Azure SQL Database resources is reached, you cannot connect to Azure SQL Database. Follow the troubleshooter in the "Resolution" section to resolve the connection problems.
