Total Confusion of a Newbie
I'm trying to set up a server running Win Server 2008 R2 Foundation. This servr will ONLY be used to run my application - NOT a web application - by users in another state via Remote Desktop Services (RDS), and by me for management of the server and application. I found - according to "Mastering Windows Server5 2008 R2 by Mark Minasi et al - that I can't have Domain Servr and Remote Desktop Service installed on the same server hardware, therefore I have to use a "Workgroup" configuration. During the OS Configuration adventure, I was asked about a Certificate (since it's RDS, I'm assuming that it's an SSL certificate), and I checked the "do it later" box to take advantage of the 120 days to install one. Now here's my problem. Besides not knowing zip about Certificates, in all of my research all of the information I've found is with regard to Domain and Web Servers, and so far not one single artical even remotely touching on Certificates for a worktroup configuration, so what am I, chopped liver? Please, somebody, 'splain at me what, where, and how to use/install one of these things in my environment. Creacon
