Top Bar of Windows Server 2008 Not Showing
Hello,
The top bar that normally shows on the 'desktop' of my Windows Server is not showing, and I don't know how to get it back. I don't know the name of this bar, but it contains the name of the server, a push-pin, which when 'pushed in' keeps that bar
up. It also has a maximize and minimize icon.
Could you please tell me how I can get this bar back, and if you know -- what the name of this bar is?
Thanks,

Sounds like you are using what is formerly called Terminal Services and now is called Remote Desktop Server.
This is called your Remote Desktop Connections(RDC) - I suppose just Menu bar works just fine. But it's the RDC Menu Bar. Not just Menu Bar. Menu bar is a global term that defines the main "menu" options for all applications.
Move your mouse and let it idle at the top and your bar will repear where it normally was. Just click on the push pin to allow it to stay on screen.

It is called RDP connection bar. To enable it back, move the mouse at the top of the screen. Once the bar appears, click push pin button to remain on screen.
You can also enable this setting by creating following registry key:
Under : HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Terminal Server Client
Create a new key
Name of the key: PinConnectionBar
Type: REG_DWORD
Data Value :
Value Setting
0 Connection bar does not appear.
1 Connection bar appears
OR you can save and edit RDP file in notepad and include following string:
displayconnectionbar:i:1
