Iam using windows server 2008 ent active directory server, now i wat to install ADC windows 2008 r2 std edition but i am getting below Error message wail configuring ADC, please help

To install a domain controller into this active directory forest you must first prepare the forest using ' adprep /forestprep. the adprep utility available on the windows server r2 installation media in the support\adprep \ folder.

between Windows server 2008 and Windows server 2008 R2 where some schema changes(44 to 47) that must be added to the Windows server 2008 domain BEFORE you can add the new OS DC.

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc731728.aspx contains the adprep commands you have to use.

AD schema needs to be extended before you add a windows 2008 DC in your environment. 

THis how you do this.

1) on windows 2003 DC , login as schema admin.

2) launch command prompt and navigate to MediaDrive:\support\adprep folder.

3) if your windows 2003 machine is 32 bit ,run adprep32 /forestprep and adprep32 /domainprep.

 if it is 64 bit , then run  adprep /forestprep and adprep /domainprep.

4) This should extend the schema to windows 2008 R2 level. 

5) re-run dcpromo on windows 2008 R2. 

6) if you have multiple domain controllers , let the schema change replicate throughout the forest.
