Time Settings
Yes, it's a single forest/single domain. The clients are physical but the FSMO server is a VM guest and not configured to sync with the host. Yes, I have tried w32tm /resync.

Yep, I've read conflicting information on this topic, just want to make sure when I upgrade the OS "time" will not be an issue.

Hello, please follow this way to configure time sync with the host: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/virtual_pc_guy/archive/2010/11/19/time-synchronization-in-hyper-v.aspx This is also the recommendation from Microsoft: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc773061(WS.10).aspxBest regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.

Got two W23K DC's but currently only one of the servers contains all of the FSMO roles, will split roles once both DC's are upgraded to 2008. I understand the DC running the PDC emulator role "should" be the server that controls network time assuming its an authorized time server, which I have done. BUT all the clients are getting their time from the "other" DC and am puzzled as to why that is the case, used "net time" command to check. I checked the GPO > Computer Config > Admint Templates > System > Windows Time Service but none of the settings are enabled. So what else could be causing the clients to check in with the other DC? Is there another GPO setting that I should be looking for?

Two questions: - are you running on single forest / single domain design/ - are your clients vm ? (vmware tools will force sync time w/ its host) also, have you tried using the w32tm /resync command?Z-Hire -- Automate IT Account creation process Z-Term -- Automate IT account termination process

Hello, what you see is ok, the PDCEmulator is the time source of the domain, all DCs sync with that one but clients use one available DC and NOT the PDCEmulator. http://msmvps.com/blogs/mweber/archive/2010/06/27/time-configuration-in-a-windows-domain.aspxBest regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.
