Temp Databasefiles in Datawarehouse

Hi,

our System Center Service Manager 2012 R2 Data Warehouse created some .ndf files in SQL directory.

They are named as: tempOneomOMDWDataMart.ndf, tempOnestgstgDWStagingAndConfig.ndf, tempOnerepoDWRepository.ndf, tempOnedmDWDataMart.ndf, tempOnecmCMDWDataMart.ndf

The DW - Server created 4 of each.

Can anyone tell me, what that files are for or why they was created?

Hi,

NDF files are typically stored on a different hard disk or partition than the primary database file.  Each NDF file uses the same filename as the corresponding MDF file, such as "mydb.mdf" and "mydb.ndf."  Also, the NDF file cannot be opened by SQL Server without the MDF file attached.

Secondary database file used by Microsoft SQL Server; created when the primary .MDF database becomes too large.
