Taskbar locked at top of screen

Hi Guys,

Our company use Windows Server 2008 R2, one of our users has somehow managed to move their task bar to the top of the screen but now it is locked their and wont move back? Taskbars should be locked at the bottom of the screen so I'm not quite sure how he managed to move it.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Andy,

If you right click on an open space on the taskbar, you should see an option that reads "Lock the Taskbar." If there is a check next to it, click it to uncheck it. You will then be able to move it. After you unlock the taskbar, left click on an open space of the taskbar and hold down the mouse, and then drag the taskbar to the location you want.

Also, you can right click on taskbar->Select Properties->On the Taskbar tab, choose to lock or unlock the taskbar and select the location of taskbar on screen.

Hope this helps.

Hi Ethan,

The lock taskbar is greyed out due to server permissions, but I have logged in as administrator and allowed users to change the taskbar...however the taskbar is still locked for users?

How can I move the task bar back?

Thanks

Hi Andy,

I'm not quite sure what kind of "server permissions" you are referring to here. And also, how did you "allowed users to change the taskbar..."? It'll be great if you can elaborate a little bit on it.

I would suggest you first have a check and see if you have below Taskbar group policy deployed in your environment:

User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Start Menu and Taskbar\Lock the Taskbar

If you've enabled this policy, then the "Lock the Taskbar" will be greyed out.

Hope this helps.
