Task Scheduler - Send an E-mail Action (Has anyone gotten this to work?)
Hello, I'm trying to setup a Scheduled Task to send an email based on an event (log). I installed the MS SMTP Server and confirmed its working by using a bmail.exe. However, I can't seem to get the Task Scheduler to send an email. I've searched the internet and found many complaints/issues, however no one seemed to have resolved it (except to skip the Task Scheduler email action all together and use bmail.exe or script to send the email). What's the secret to getting to work? Can anyone here confirm they have it working? It seems like the From email address matters. If I put in some generic email address, I get a "(0x80040211)" as Last Run Time status. If I change the From email to "Administrator", I get "Cannot modify or delete an object that was not added using the COM+ Admin SDK (0x8004020D) " Any help is appreciated.

Hi, Please go through the following links first: Getting event log contents by email on an event log trigger http://blogs.technet.com/b/jhoward/archive/2010/06/16/getting-event-log-contents-by-email-on-an-event-log-trigger.aspx How to send an email when a Windows Event is logged http://www.ee99ee.com/2011/01/16/how-to-send-an-email-when-a-windows-event-is-logged/ It seems that you have chosen "Send an email" when "Create Basic Task Wizard". Did you receive the above error after entering From, To, …, SMTP server? Please write down the detailed error or warning message. Please also double check whether the SMTP server is configured properly. Thanks.
