TCP auto-tuning in Server 2008
I am having issues with two of my win2008 servers. I tried to modify the tcp stack settings using the netsh int tcp set autotuninglevel=normal, restricted etc. command.
Following which I restored the settings to the "default" values.
For some reason I cannot get the same throughput response and TCP window size as I used to before make the changes on the server.
The end-user throughput was much higher after installing all the possible windows updates and drivers.
Then I changed the tcp settings in an attempt to improve the end-user performance.
After making changes, and rebooting the server - the server throughput never changed at all.
I tried to restore the settings to default again and again - the throughput in my tests did not return to the previous settings.
This is the second server I have lost this month to this type of testing. The first one I thought was simple user error.
This time again the same thing has happened. The only way for me to restore the server to its initial state is to re-install the OS.
I have tried using then netsh int ip reset command. But I have not had any luck with that either. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Goldeneye, instead of manually reset TCP, you can try the tool in the following KB article and see the result:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929868
Note: if any error message is received, such as does not apply operting system version, you can run it under compatibility mode.

You can also try reinstalling your network adapter and see if that works. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.

I uninstalled McAfee and that resolved the problem.
I was able to restore my server to the original state.
