TCP/IP Ping
Hi,
This is probable the wrong place to ask this! and it's not an issue just something I'm trying to remember again!
Many years ago on my first IT course when learning about TCP/IP I was told this funny thing about TCP/IP.
I can't remember exactly how it goes but it's something like if you take your IP address and times each octet by something (think 1024 but could be wrong). Then do something else and then add all the numbers together. If you then pinged
this number it returned your IP address.
Example 192.168.1.100
192*1024= 196608
168*1024= 172032
1*1024= 1024
100*1024=102400
Add that together and do something. so ping 472064 it would be like pinging 192.168.1.100.
Like I said this isn't an issue and it does 100% work just can't remember the formula (was over 14 years ago!)
Thanks
