I have few queries in the way log shipping system tables get updated.

Please find them below:

 log_shipping_secondary_databases and   log_shipping_monitor_secondary tables are not getting populated in PRIMARY server when LOG shipping is configured.

In a similar way, the tables are not getting populated in SECONDARY server( log_shipping_primary_databases,  log_shipping_primary_secondaries and  log_shipping_monitor_primary)  when LOG shipping is configured.

Can someone explain me why this is happening?

Have you configured monitoring server in your logshipping ,all the information will be stored there.I dont think it will syore information on primary or sec.

I have not configured monitoring server. All the system tables mentioned are in msdb database in respective servers. So I could not find data in the respective tables mentioned above in each servers.

I use below listed stored proc in MSDB for monitoring Mirroring configuration on primary and secondary.Also you can RK on server go to reports then standard reports and click on transaction log shipping status,this u can do on both machines prim. and sec.
