System State Backup failing on Server 2003 Standard on a DC
I get the following error message while trying to backup the system state on 1 of 3 DC's the other 2 work no problem. Backup Status Operation: Backup Active backup destination: File Media name: "SystemState.bkf created 9/29/2010 at 2:18 PM" Volume shadow copy creation: Attempt 1. Timeout before function completed Error returned while creating the volume shadow copy:0xffffffff. Error returned while creating the volume shadow copy:ffffffff Aborting Backup. ------The operation did not successfully complete.

Hi, Try the register dll steps provided in KB040032, which can help restart vss service. Reboot after performed all these steps. If there is any error occurs when trying to run any of the commands, please write the error down and post back here. Meanwhile, try to do backup some small files as a test to see if the issue related to system or NTbackup.
