I have created a subreport and put them in rectangle on the main report.  But when I go back and make changes in the subreport for instance the alignment and/or the font size of the cell and then do a save those changes are not being reflected on the Main report when I do the preview.  Is there a reason why?

After doing the changes to the subreport, save the changes and Preview the report. Now go to the main report and you should be seeing the changes getting reflected. Basically the subreport if its not rendered it takes it from Cache created in your local folder.

right click in the project and select Rebuild. That will clean all the caches and fix your problem.
