Streaming Media Server does not write anything in logfiles
Hi, My upgraded stream server does not write any line except errors like "file not found" in its logfile. The logfile itself is written but it contains only the headers. The monitoring-tabs in the mmc does not show any statistics, too. But the server itself streams the content perfectly. There is no troubleshooting-entry and no eventlog entry. Any Idea? Thanks Joerg

Hi Joerg, By default, the Logging event about Windows Media Services is disabled on Windows Server 2008. You may manually enable built-in Windows Media Services Client Logging to log client connections and streaming details in a file on the server. 1. Open Server Manager. 2. Open Windows Media Services mmc. 3. Click on the server in the MMC. 4. Select Properties tab in the right side of MMC. 5. Select Logging in the Category area. 6. Right-click on WMS Client Logging and Click Enable. Please note: the WMS logging will be save in %systemroot%\system32\LogFiles\WMS\<V>\WMS_<Y><m><d>.log Ex. C:\Windows\System32\LogFiles|WMS\[Global]\WMS_20080325.log By the way, the monitoring tab in the Windows Media Service management console shows the statistics in the real time. In the node of Troubleshooting, it will only display recent server error events. Hope it helps.
