Strange windows updates.
Hi
I got a win R2 w. SP1 with Forefront TMG and .net 3.51 + .net 4 installed
Now my windows updates wants to install:
KB947318
KB954326
KB972581
KB967642
All of them something to do with office 2003 and 2007.
Why, what does my installation have to do with the office updates?

You may not have office but you have the underlying components which may be vulnerable.

I still dont get it.
Why would my setup have anything to do with Office 200x?
If it is because TMG that would support some office clients, why wouldnt it be called a Forefront TMG update?
If it has to do with .net x, why wouldnt it be called a .net x update?
Just doesnt make sence to me.

For KB947318 I'd search the disk for
File name File version File size Date Time
Owc11.dll 12.0.6502.5000 7,049,096 26-Mar-2009 21:14
Owc11pia.dll 12.0.6502.5000 477,032 26-Mar-2009 21:14
Looks to me like KB972581 supersedes KB954326
File name File version File size Date Time
Ogl.dll 12.0.6325.5000 1,663,008 25-Jul-2008 03:16
File name File version File size Date Time
Ogl.dll 12.0.6509.5000 1,661,792 13-Jun-2009 08:15
The last one KB967642 may be the result of the others (just a WAG) since it isn't security related.
No-charge support is available by calling 1-866-PCSAFETY in the United States so you can just call and ask.

Office 2003 Add-in: Office Web Components:
owc11.exe
" .......Used with Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.01 or later, Office Web Components allow you to view a published control (spreadsheet, chart, or database) on a Web page and to view data access pages."

Dont know if owc11.exe contains owc11.dll but looks like it is a update for IE in my case... but my other server dont list theese updates.
Maybe I install them, maybe I dont.

No, it doesn't. The DLL will more than likely be located in (x64)
\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\microsoft shared\Web Components\11
If it bothers you then call them up.
